Retired from the Faculty of Education, University of Cambridge. Toni has for 60 years worked in secondary school teaching, teacher training, school inspection, project development and management, and curriculum and learning resource development in the UK, USA and South Africa and other African countries. Toni’s objective has been to establish communities of best practice working to promote student centred, self-regulated learning that prepares young people well for life in the 21st century. Toni’s motivation is to assist teachers in improving the standard of mathematics teaching and learning in Africa in all types of schools in order to provide better educational opportunities for children from disadvantaged communities. Since 2003 over 2500 primary and secondary teachers and teacher educators have taken the AIMSSEC blended learning professional development residential courses followed by 3- or 6-months school based learning. Teachers from disadvantaged communities receive bursaries.
